Can I license Sarah Fenwick’s artwork for commercial use?

What types of products can I license the artwork for?
Sarah Fenwick’s artwork can be licensed for a variety of products such as book covers, prints, canvases, greeting cards, calendars, apparel items, and more. Each license is negotiated individually.
Is the license exclusive or non-exclusive?
Licenses are typically non-exclusive, allowing the artist to license the same artwork to multiple parties. Exclusive licenses may be possible but require a higher fee.
How long does a typical license last?
Most licenses are granted for a 1-3 year term. The duration depends on the intended use and can be renewed upon expiration if desired.
Can I make modifications or alterations to the licensed artwork?
No, licensed artwork cannot be modified, altered, cropped, or edited in any way without express written permission from the artist. The artwork must be reproduced as-is. In the case that text is overlaid, for example, in a book cover, every effort must be made to retain the image as-is.
Do I need to include attribution when using a licensed artwork?
Yes, a credit line with the artist’s name, the artwork title, and copyright notice must be included with all reproductions, e.g. “Painting Title © Sarah Fenwick”.
What file formats are provided for licensed artworks?
High-resolution digital image files suitable for printing and product manufacturing will be provided upon licensing. Common file formats are PNG, JPEG, PDF, etc.
Are there any limitations on how many products I can produce?
Yes, most licenses stipulate a maximum number of reproductions based on the intended use and distribution. Higher volume print runs require a broader license.
Can I use the artwork for educational purposes without a license?
Limited use of Sarah Fenwick’s artwork is permitted for non-commercial, educational purposes such as classroom materials, student projects, academic publications, etc. Proper attribution to the artist is still required.
