Process

At heart, I’m an expressionist. I look for mood, emotion and energy to create an image of my life’s perceptions and the times we’re living in.

I’m inspired by jazz music, metaphysical ideas about the Universe, and the challenge of capturing intangibles like freedom and painting them out on canvas.

My process follows the key steps of Colour, Contrast, Expression and Composition (CCEC), which are the values of art with the most meaning to me. I look for complete freedom to improvise and to be spontaneous.

In earlier works created between 2020 and 2023, I explored improvisational painting and developing the random shapes created by dashing paint onto paper and canvas surfaces.

About Shadows (2021)

I’m currently exploring structure in painting, going more deeply into questions of perspective and colour, and how they give meaning to emotions, memories, and distance in time.
