The Art of Sarah Fenwick – New Website and Art Blog Launch
(September 27, 2021, Nicosia, Cyprus.)
English-Cypriot artist Sarah Fenwick is delighted to announce a major milestone in her work as a visual artist with the release of her new website www.sarahfenwickart.com.
SarahFenwickArt.com is an online gallery and art shop featuring colourful and spirited work in portraits, landscape, floral, abstract, and still life. Already known for her influential work as a jazz singer, Fenwick is fast making a name as a respected visual and crossover artist, and collectors snap up her early-career artworks in the expectation they will rise in value as her reputation grows.
Fenwick’s background as a jazz singer inspires her artwork with musical themes and she is driven to discover more about the meaning and beauty of life through painting. She works mainly in acrylics, charcoal, oils and pastels.
Says Fenwick about the links between art and music: “I’m interested in artistic crossovers, where different elements become part of a whole performance. The crossroads where a face becomes part of a landscape and a tree or building become part of a dance. Where the light becomes a spotlight and you can hear music and rhythm in the flow of the paint. Where the paintbrush becomes an improvisational voice singing about a moment which brings together past, future and present in a new yet familiar way.”
Art lovers can read Fenwick’s blogs on SarahFenwickArt.com, covering topics such as how art is valued and how to choose beautiful art for your home.
Current work
Sarah Fenwick is currently working on a new series called ‘Contrasts’. Ancient versus new. Something versus nothing. Dynamic versus static. Green versus red. Abstract versus representational. Identity versus anonymity. Privacy versus sharing. Real versus imaginary. Pain versus joy. Love versus hate.
Our lives and perceptions are made up of contrasts. We navigate through life by charting the contrasts in front of us – single versus married, working versus unemployed, parenting versus being childless, even something as simple as going out versus staying home.
In this series, Sarah Fenwick explores how we find the balance between different extremes and choices. She is curious about finding the peaceful center where our spirits live, observing the fleeting moments we experience every day.
Several artworks from the ‘Contrasts’ series have already been sold, and an exhibition is planned for 2022.
