Still Zoe

I painted this portrait of my niece in oils on a readymade canvas. Many layers of underpainting evolved the piece to the final finished work.

The whole process took over a year. The unique feature is the way the subject's gaze follows the viewer from every angle. 

Rich dark warm browns and oranges are the main colours. To the right of her face is a dragonfly symbolising rebirth.
